New Saturday kids class, a women's open mat, pro-level noon sessions, and what's coming for gear — here's the summer update.
What's New This Summer at The Garden
Summer is usually when gyms slow down. People travel, schedules shift, motivation dips. We're going the other direction — adding programs because our community has been asking for them.
Saturday Kids Game Class (Ages 4-9)
Starting June 28. This is for the youngest crew — kids who need to burn energy and learn jiu-jitsu concepts through games and structured play. It's not a watered-down adult class. It's specifically designed for how small kids learn: through movement, fun, and short attention spans.
If your kid has been curious but you weren't sure they were ready for a regular class, this is the entry point. Book their spot on the schedule.
Women's Open Mat — Saturdays 9:30-11:00 AM
This has been a long time coming. A dedicated weekly training time for women, any experience level. No charge, no commitment. Bring a friend who's been curious about grappling. Come solo and roll with other women who are on the same path.
We've been running Women's No-Gi sessions and the feedback has been clear: more mat time, more often. This is our answer.
Pro-Level Noon Sessions (Mondays)
For our competitors and advanced members: invitation-only Monday noon training. This is high-intensity, structured competition prep. If you're competing or training at a level where you need more serious work than what evening classes provide, talk to me about getting involved.
Everything else keeps rolling
6 AM crew — still going strong. These people are built different. Weekday mornings, No-Gi and Muay Thai, depending on the day.
Muay Thai — morning and evening slots. If you haven't tried it yet, we provide gloves and pads for beginners. No experience needed.
Gear update
New No-Gi rashguards and shorts are in the works, along with kids' uniforms. We'll announce when they drop — check the shop for updates.
The bigger picture
Every new program exists because someone asked for it. A parent needed a class for younger kids. Women wanted their own mat time. Competitors needed sharper training partners. That's how The Garden grows — from the community outward, not from a whiteboard in some conference room.
If there's something you want to see here, tell us. That's how this works.
