A Summer Gathering for Women Who Train
This event didn’t start with a plan. It started with a phone call and a laugh. I told Paige I needed to come train with her and Rana again. Her response? “Then we’ll come to you.”
So we did what women who train do best — we made it happen fast.
I met Paige three years ago at the East Coast Women’s No Gi Camp. We clicked immediately: two Leos hyping each other up between rounds. I helped with her first women’s camp, handling travel and capturing photos. Her energy has always been contagious — like sunshine that can leglock you.
Rana and I met at Legion, where we had the kind of wild blue belt scrambles that make your soul leave your body. I got submitted four or five times in one roll, and we just laughed through all of it. What stuck with me was her work ethic. She was still a blue belt at her level — no shortcuts, no fast promotions, just showing up and doing the work.
We wanted to bring that same energy to Philly. Not a staged event. Not a photo op. Just a weekend for women who train — who want solid rounds, clean technique, and space to grow without pressure.
We’re calling it Warriors in the Garden, and it’s built for the ones who roll hard, help each other up, and bring it every time. We’re seizing the summer by a buggy choke and a smile.
